The world´s first wind powered car

A hot tip to the beleaguered American car industry:

The world´s first wind powered car - invented in Sri Lanka - is awaiting mass production.

The car can be driven at 60kmh top speed only using wind power. Most of the European manufactures want him to sell the blue print of this car to their countries but he wants to sell this car from Southern Asia.
--
To clear the facts, as to my knowing this car Runs on Kinetic energy of the air sucked in from the front turbines to power up a specially designed engine. Special mechanism is used to maximize the turbine efficiency and rotation. The prevailing air powered cars founded up-to this car; uses compressed Air to power up pistons in the engine, which proved to be dangerous. Its just like running a car with a car bomb. But this Sri Lankan car proved to be  100% safe as to the developer. Its equal to a windmill built in to run the engine.

If anyone is interested in buying this car or support manufacturing or investing please contact:

PS

Hopefully this car runs well also when the wind is blowing against it.

The dark side of wind turbines

"Green" wind turbines are the darlings of the western progressive/liberal media. However, there is dark side to the turbines that these media seldom write about:

A dark side of the wind industry that many media outlets have failed to report on is the thousands of documented cases of serious accidents. These include numerous documented cases of turbines falling over, blades flying off, injuries to workers and the public, and at least 99 reported fatality accidents.

How many tragedies have occurred worldwide is a well-kept secret within the wind industry. In the United Kingdom alone, however, Renewables UK, an industry trade association, has admitted to 1,500 wind turbine accidents/incidents in the UK alone during the past five years, the London Telegraph reported.
--
Among the most grisly tragedies was that of John Donnelly, a worker killed in Oregon in 1989 when a lanyard that as supposed to prevent falls for turbine workers became entangled, dragging him into the spinning machinery. According to Paul Gipe, an advocate of wind power who authored an article on fatalities, the medical examiner described Donnelly’s demise as death by “multiple amputations”, witnessed by a horrified coworker.
Another Oregon worker, Chadd Mitchell, young father of two, was killed when a wind turbine tower he was in collapsed to the ground in Sherman County after the turbine’s rotor went into “overspeed,” the Oregonian reported on February 6, 2010. Siemens Power was fined for safety violations, and the family filed a lawsuit.
Other deaths have included electrocutions, falls, crush injuries, construction accidents, and a Minnesota man who was nearly cut in half by a chunk of ice knocked off a turbine tower in 1994. Three suicides have also been linked to turbines, including a worker who hanged himself, a parachutist, and a farmer who killed himself after neighbors protested a turbine he put on his property.
--
At least 121 structural failures have been recorded too, including an entire wind turbine that crashed to the ground. The website www.windaction.org documents many of these. Turbines have crashed to the ground in school yards, near homes, roads and walking paths where only by sheer luck was no one underneath when the multi-ton structures collapsed. In the Palm Springs area, a turbine spinning out of control forced closure of a major highway. There are also concerns about many turbines still standing –where failures such as cracked foundations and sinkage have been observed.

NASA´s Hansen wants Al Gore to change his lifestyle?

Will we soon see Al Gore give up his  several  homes,  fuel hungy cars and  private  jet flights?

For some strange reason, it appears that the global warming cult has many of its most ardent followers in Scotland. Now the clan of Scottish warmists have decided to award NASA´s James Hansen with what the Guardian describes "the prestigious Edinburgh Medal".

The Guardian - always happy to promote the cult - gives a glowing presentation of the high priest:

Now 70, Hansen is regarded as one of the most influential figures in climate science; the creator of one of the first global climate models, his pioneering role in warning about global warming is frequently cited by climate campaigners such as former US vice president Al Gore

Hansen will, of course, use this opportunity to present yet another catastrophic global warming scenario and call for a "worldwide tax on all carbon emissions".

The very rich and most profligate energy users, people with several homes, or private jets and fuel-hungry cars, would also be forced into dramatically changing their energy use. In the new paper, Hansen, director of Nasa's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, and his colleagues warn that failing to cut CO2 emissions by 6% now will mean that by 2022, the annual cuts would need to reach a more drastic level of 15% a year.

Will we soon see Hansen´s pupil Al Gore - a member of the group of "the very rich and most profligate energy users, people with several homes, or private jets and fuel-hungry cars" - "dramatically" change his lifestyle and energy use?

Thatcher´s former top aid lambasts "delusional" energy ministers and "totalitarian" climate change zealots

Sir Bernard pointed out that energy generated from wind farms is ten times more expensive than that produced by gas sations (image by wikipedia)
Margaret Thatcher´s former top aid, Sir Bernard Ingram did not mince his words when he  lambasted the Cameron government´s crippling energy policy,"mad" wind farms, "delusional" energy ministers and "totalitarian" climate change zealots in a memorable speech last night:

In a speech, Sir Bernard – who worked in the Department of Energy in the Seventies and is a passionate advocate of nuclear power – said: ‘Our politicians are besotted with every form of power generation that does not work in a modern economy.
---

Sir Bernard also derided the state-backed Carbon Capture competition.
He said: ‘They are trying to give away £1billion to prove that up to 200 million tonnes a year of CO2 can be buried under the North Sea, even though we can be pretty sure it will double the price of electricity generated by fossil fuels.’
Sir Bernard dismissed the move as the latest in a long line of examples where the Government has backed the wrong type of energy generation.
He added: ‘None of this suggests that our coalition has a firm grasp of essentials in an economy in need of growth.
‘Producing energy by the most expensive routes is a sure way, at best, to handicap growth and at worst to bring economic and industrial decline.’
His virulent attack drew on research from Edinburgh University that showed that the Government’s wind programme would cost £120billion - almost ten times as much as the same power from gas stations.
---
‘In the last 14 years we have witnessed a progressive loss of reason among politicians, in Whitehall and among scientists and engineers,’ he added.
He also used the speech to deride the ‘steady descent into hysteria over global warming’.
The change had led to ‘the manifest delusions of successive energy secretaries - Ed Miliband, Chris Huhne and now Ed Davey,’ he said.
‘I would like some proof that the world is going to fry and that my native Yorkshire will acquire the climate of Provence,’ he added.

First Lord Lawson, now Sir Bernard - the Thatcher government veterans are not afraid of calling a spade a spade. It is time for David Cameron and all the other delusional zealots to start listening.

New Finnish study: Santa´s reindeer could help prevent catastrophic global warming

Finland´s secret weapon against catastrophic global warming?

Finnish reindeer could help to save the earth from dangerous global warming:

Thick vegetation in tundra regions hastens spring snow melt, thus spurring on climate change. But reindeer grazing on Lapland's tundra vegetation are helping keep the climate cool by reducing shrubbery.
According to Juval Cohen, a researcher at the Meteorological Institute, reductions in vegetation cover or protection of the barren tundra can slow snow melt in the summer, which in turn helps combat warming of the climate.
As snow reflects more of the sun’s rays back into the atmosphere than bare ground, snow keeps the temperatures cool. Snowless terrain, on the other hand, absorbs heat from the sun.
Satellite images show that snow nearly always melts on the Norwegian side of the border before it does in Finland. Aside from differences in vegetation cover, other factors such as temperatures, rainfall and sunshine did not vary significantly.
“On the Norwegian side vegetation was thicker, which stems from the fact that reindeer graze more on the Finnish side of the border,” said Cohen.

The Finnish Meteorological Institute does not give any reason for why reindeer graze more on the Finnish side of the open border. Could it be that they are all remote controled (maybe using new Nokia apps?) to save only the Finnish side from catastrophic global warming?

The unique creativity of the UN bureaucracy

If there is anything that United Nations bureacrats are skilled in, it is establishing large new, overpaid and wasteful bureaucratic structures in order to "solve" mostly non-existing global problems. Ban Ki-moon, the UN secretary general, is uniquely talented in this. His latest outburst of bureaucratic creativity includes the founding of a new "scientific board", of course with a large staff of advisers and other international officials.

Later on this month a meeting in Panama City will agree the budget and location of the secretariat for the new Intergovernmental Panel on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES)

The next step, which is now discussed at the UN, is to establish a "global science panel" to oversee already existing panels and "carry out an assesment of assesments" (!). In addition, a new "overseeing Intergovernmental Panel on Sustainable Development would provide the evidence base for the proposed UN sustainable-development council":

Ban Ki-moon, the secretary general of the UN, said that he is taking forward a recommendation to appoint a chief scientific adviser or scientific board, as suggested to him by a panel of experts on global sustainability.
--
Another proposal to boost science’s standing in policy-making is to establish a new global science panel to oversee the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). Details of the IPBES, including budget and location of the secretariat, will be agreed at a meeting in Panama City from 16–21 April
--
Scientists would sit on the overseeing Intergovernmental Panel on Sustainable Development, but the panel would not conduct new research. Rather, it will carry out an assessment of assessments and ensure that the science from the separate panels is connected.
--
One suggestion is that the panel could also conduct a review of global sustainable development as called for by Ban Ki-moon’s sustainable-development advisers in January.

The overseeing Intergovernmental Panel on Sustainable Development would provide the evidence base for the proposed UN sustainable-development council, where heads of state will negotiate issues concerned with the green economy. There is growing international support for establishing a sustainable-development council and global sustainable-development goals that would set voluntary targets for green growth.

PS

The only new "panel" that is really needed is the Panel for Abolishing All Existing Useless UN Panels. Somebody else than Ban Ki-moon has to start working on that one.

The sad truth about solar energy: "The days of cell production in Western countries are numbered"

The lights of the German solar industry are soon going out. The same will happen in all other Western countries:

The German solar industry is at a turning point. The bankruptcy of Q-Cells this week shows that the days of German solar cell production are numbered. Asian competitors took the lead years ago, and German government subsidies were part of the problem.
--

The worst hit in the German solar crisis are companies that made bad business decisions. Most of the companies effected failed to wean themselves from reliance on government subsidies. The companies had all been aware that the market was rapidly changing, but they reacted too late or too slowly. Solar subsidies had been a highly effective political means of promoting the environmentally friendly technology, but in a rapidly maturing market, they are quickly losing their impact.
And the problem isn't the recent cuts to solar subsidies. The problem has been mismanagement across the industry in Germany.

--

most of the lights are likely to go out soon in Germany's Solar Valley. Experts like Michael Schmela, editor in chief of the industry publication Photon International, see no future for the companies based in Bitterfeld-Wolfen. "The days of cell production in Western countries are numbered," he said recently.

Now also Italy will cut the subsidies to wind and solar energy projects

An increasing number of governmentsl are cutting subsidies to wind and solar energy. Now also the government of Italy has realized that there is a limit to how much taxpayers´ money can be wasted in order to enrich the owners of uneconomical renewable energy projects:

Italy will move to reduce taxpayer subsidies to its renewable energy sector after last year's boom in solar power, Industry Minister Corrado Passera says.
The official said Saturday in Cernobbio, Italy, that taxpayer subsidies doled out to the wind and solar power industries had generated "excessive" investments in the sector, The Wall Street Journal reported.
"Italy has important goals to meet and even surpass," he said, but added, "we need to do so without over-reliance on taxpayer resources."
The government, Passera said, will in the coming years "realign" the level of its incentives to those of other European countries.
The comments came a day after Paolo Andrea Colombo, chairman of Italian electric utility Enel SpA, said the heavy subsidization of alternative energy was hurting traditional producers such as his company.
"The development of renewables, combined with the stagnation of demand, is making it difficult to cover the production costs of conventional systems, putting at risk the ability to remain in operation," Colombo said.

Putin does not dare to free Khodorkovsky

Recent media speculation about Mikhail Khodorkovsky´s release has been rather naive. Mikhail Fedotov, who is heading the Russian government´s - that is to say Vlamidir Putin´s - "Human Rights Council", today quashed any hopes that the former Yukos chief may soon be released:

Mikhail Fedotov said that outgoing President Dmitry Medvedev had rejected a recommendation by experts saying that Khodorkovsky did not have to admit guilt in order to receive a presidential pardon.

Khodorkovsky was convicted twice on fraud charges and is currently set to remain in jail until 2017.

Khodorkovsky denies wrongdoing.

His supporters say his prosecutions have been punishment by the Kremlin for Khodorkovsky's support for the opposition and for posing a potential political challenge to the rule of Vladimir Putin.
ov
Medvedev ordered a review of Khodorkovsky's conviction on the eve of Vladimir Putin's reelection to a third term as president in early March.

Medvedev may order whatever he wants, but he has absolutely no influence on the unlawful political imprisonment of Khodorkovsky. Putin is the man who decides about the imprisonment - and he has no intentions to set the prisoner free. Putin knows that Khodorkovsky´s release from prison would immediately accelerate popular opposition against the mafia regime he has created.

It is of course possible that Putin may have thought that the former Yukos leader is willing to admit some kind of guilt and/or promise not to speak about his unlawful imprisonment. But Mikhail Khodorkovsky is obviously not ready to accept that kind of shameful conditions.

Putin tries to save his dream with the help of former German socialist leaders

As we have noted, Vladmir Putin is desparately trying to save his crumbling house of cards - built on the dream of ever higher gas prices in a market dominated by the Russian energy giant Gazprom. But, as we also have noted, Putin will not be able to stop the American led shale gas revolution, which will put and end to Gazprom´s (and Putin´s) dream. Ultimately this development will also mean the end of the corrupted mafia state created by the former KGB officer.

Henning Voscherau and his new benefactor

But you cannot blame Putin for not trying: Now he has chosen another leading former German social democratic politician to head the South Stream pipeline project (Putin´s admirer and friend, former chanchellor Gerhard Schröder is in charge of the Nord Stream project together with another "friend", former Stasi agent Matthias Warnig):

Gazprom chief Aleksei Miller has nominated the former mayor of Hamburg, Henning Voscherau, to head the board of the Russia-backed South Stream pipeline project.

Miller on March 19 cited Voscherau's "experience in working with international organizations dealing with legal regulation" and said his "weighty authority will make him a considerable contribution to the successful and timely implementation of the South Stream project."

After serving as the first mayor of Hamburg, Voscherau is also a former president of Germany's upper house of parliament.

The South Stream natural-gas pipeline aims to carry some 63 billion cubic meters of Russian gas across southeastern Europe to points in Italy and Austria.

Vladimir Putin seems to hope that surrounding Europe from the North and the South with the help of two former German socialist leaders, will make it possible for Russia to achieve a dominating position. But even comrades Schröder and Voscherau will not be able to prevent the crumbling of Putin´s house of cards.

Of course, European governments should do what they can in order to shorten the process, as the prominent Die Welt correspondent Gerhard Gauck suggests in his recent article (unfortunately only in German).

However, there is one question that remains a mystery: Why is it that former German socialist leaders cannot resist enriching themselves personally, even if they know - or should know - that what they are doing is contrary to the national interests of their own country, and - above all - the interests of the former Russian satellite countries in Europe?

$21,000 Wind turbine saved $4 on Reno´s energy bill

Wind turbines seldom - if ever - produce the amounts of electricity that their manufacturers promise. The subsidized turbines installed in the city of Reno are just one example:

"the city of Reno's wind turbines -- for which the city received more than $150,000 in rate-payer funded rebates -- produced dramatically less electricity than the manufacturers of its turbines promised.
"These manufacturers, when they gave us the turbines, they said they were designed to be mounted on a parapet at this height, and that's what we did," said Jason Geddes, who runs the city of Reno's renewable energy program. "But when we started getting actual wind flow patterns, we realized their claims were wrong."
As first reported by the Reno Gazette-Journal, one turbine that cost the city $21,000 to install saved the city $4 on its energy bill. Overall, $416,000 worth of turbines have netted the city $2,800 in energy savings."

Two more German solar power companies file for bankruptcy

  "HIGH YIELDS IN EVERY DIRECTION"

(Q-Cells webpage 2 April, 2012)

"Q-Cells SE will file for insolvency proceedings on Tuesday, 3 April 2012, at the competent Insolvency Court in Dessau."

(Q-Cells webpage 2 April, 2012)

Q-Cells, the pride of the German solar power industry, today announced that it will file for bankruptcy. This is the fourth bankruptcy in the German solar power industry since December:
The slump has been blamed on controversial cuts in state assistance and on imports of cheaper Chinese-made solar panels.

A decade ago, Germany stimulated a brand new solar-power industry with laws that required utilities to accept all electricity they were offered from private owners of solar panels.

Q-Cells, which manufactures black panels that convert sunlight into electricity, began as a story of high hopes, setting up its modern factory in the east German town of Bitterfeld-Wolfen.

But the industry has been squeezed as the state assistance has been cut back.

"Feed-in" tariffs, the artificially high price that utilities must pay for the energy, have been reduced by 50 per cent since their peak, and fell another 20 to 30 per cent at the start of this month.
Today also another German solar power company, Odersun, filed for bankruptcy:
With massive cuts to solar feed-in tariffs in Germany, another solar company has filed for bankruptcy. Frankfurt-based Odersun is expected to be closing its doors and laying off 260 people at the end of May.

The chain of bankruptcies in Germany is a sad consequence of Angela Merkel´s failed energy and environmental policy. And this is only the beginning ....

Putin tries to save Shtokman gas project by promising "favourable tax conditions"

The game is soon over for Putin´s  corrupted  KGB  led regime

Vladimir Putin and Gazprom - the government (Putin) controlled energy company that is the backbone of Putin´s corrupted empire - are well aware of the fact that the US led shale gas revolution has totally changed the international energy game. Still, the Russians do not seem to fully understand that their energy hegemony project has failed.

The giant Shtokman gas project will never be profitable, even with the tax reductions the ever more desperate Putin now is promising as a form of artificial respiration:

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has reassured the chief executives of France’s Total SA (TOT) and Norway’s Statoil ASA (STO) that favorable tax conditions will be created for the giant Shtokman gas project in the Barents Sea.
“We have taken several tax decisions at the federal and regional levels (…) that will create favorable conditions for implementing the Shtokman project,” Putin said at a meeting in Moscow with Total’s Christophe de Margerie and Statoil‘s Helge Lund, according to a transcript on the government website.
The meeting took place after the Shtokman shareholders–Total, Statoil and Russian state gas firm OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS)–had decided to postpone a final investment decision for the fourth time until July 1.

The "flawless democrat" with his German  servant

With the failure of Shtokman, Putin´s and his German henchman, former chancellor Gerhard Schröder´s Nord Stream will also turn out to be a huge - and expensive - mistake. (But it has of course been a personal gold mine for comrade Schröder, who still calls Putin a "flawless democrat").

The shale gas revolution is good for the US - and Europe

Fareed Zakaria´s column on the importance of the shale gas revolution is worth reading:

The United States now has, at current consumption rates, at least 75 years’ worth of recoverable natural gas. More important, the United States has become the world’s low-cost producer of natural gas. That fact is already changing the future of U.S. manufacturing. Companies such as Dow Chemical and Westlake Chemical are finding that low U.S. energy costs can mitigate the lower cost of labor in Asia – making it economical to keep and even build manufacturing facilities in the United States.
That might also help explain why high oil prices are not slowing down the U.S. economy as much as has been feared. Robert Hefner, a natural gas entrepreneur and author of “The Grand Energy Transition,” points out that the cost of heating 65 million American homes by natural gas has fallen $20 billion annually.
The environmental concerns are well taken. But the best studies out now – such as one by a committee that included the head of the Environmental Defense Fund – suggest that fracking can be done in a safe and responsible manner. Many of the riskiest practices are employed by a small number of the lowest-cost producers, a situation that calls for sensible regulation. Larger companies would probably welcome a set of rules, because they would want to follow best practices to protect their reputation and brand.
The age of natural gas will have geopolitical consequences. Until now, oil has been traded on a global market, but natural gas has been local. Because it is difficult to transport gas, countries with abundant resources and good pipelines get to set the price. Russia is able to demand up to $17 per thousand cubic feet from neighbors such as Ukraine and nations in Europe. The United States can produce natural gas for $2.50 per thousand cubic feet, and it has the world’s best and cheapest liquefying technology. Liquefied natural gas will create a single global market, and when long-term Russian contracts with Europe expire, Moscow will face a dramatic shortfall in revenue.
We will move from a world in which a few countries – Russia, Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia – control the price and supply of natural gas to one in which this resource is far more dispersed. (For now, Iran does not have access to the technology needed to capitalize on its resources.)
Oil is famously found in difficult, dysfunctional places – and oil may be the cause of those problems. The new finds of shale gas are not in traditional resource states. The largest deposits appear to be in China, with sizable ones also in Argentina, Mexico, Poland, Canada and Australia. The geopolitical ramifications of these deposits are many, but some things are clear: It will be a blessing for Poland to have its own secure energy source and not have to depend on the vagaries of the Kremlin.
The rise of shale gas is shaping up to be the biggest shift in energy in generations. And its consequences – economic and political – are profoundly beneficial to the United States.

From a European point of view, the most important development of the shale gas revolution will be the diminishing role of Putin´s Russia in the energy markets. This will finally lead to the end of Putin´s corrupted and criminal government.

Europe in search of an identity

Our own European Parliament is finally realizing that Europeans need an identity:

The European Parliament is trying to cultivate a "European identity," with top officials saying that it is the only way to ensure a lasting union between member states.
"National systems have very much invested in constructing their own identity," Klaus Welle, the secretary general of the European Parliament told an audience at the Centre for European Policy Studies

--
"In order to stabilise identity, we have created national museums, we have created national curricula, we have reconstructed national history."

The parliament is now seeking to carry out a similar exercise.

The recently-opened Parliamentarium - a visitor-cum-exhibition centre - is "one attempt to contribute" to a European identity. There are others in the pipeline. A "House of History" - the brainchild of former parliament president Hans Gert Poettering - is due to open in 2014. The parliament is also "rediscovering" the fact that it owns the house lived in by Jean Monnet, one of the founding fathers of the European Union.

Renaming some of the European institutions could be another - very inexpensive - way to manifest the European identity. What about e.g. calling the European Parliament "The School of Scoundrels", or maybe "The European House of Clowns"?

And why not rename the European Central Bank to more closely correspond to what it really has been doing recently?: "The Incredible Virtual Money Machine".

"The European Financial Stabilisation Mechanism (EFSM)" could use a more catchy name, e.g. "The Unlimited European Bank Rescue Operation"

The continuing saga of European crisis Summits could be renamed as "Van Rompuy´s Rocky Horror Show".

The possibilities are endless ....

Barroso working on a plan to bring UK closer to the European Union

This is how European stamps could soon look , if  the new Barroso  plan is  implemented

The leaders of two of the most powerful European Union member countries, Angela Merkel and Nicholas Sarkozy have lately been worried about David Cameron´s way of distancing the UK from the core of the EU.

Sources in Brussels say that José Manuel Barroso, the President of the European Commission, is now working on a plan to bring the Britain closer to the European Union. The reintegration of Britain into the EU would be done by rebranding and transforming the EU into a new kind of Commonwealth, possibly with the Queen as the formal Head of State.

David Cameron, who has gone on  record saying that "Constitutional Monarchies are the most successful form of Democracy", is reported to be supportive of the new approach, which also is in line with Barroso´s previous thinking about the nature of the European Union:

PS

Herman van Rompuy, the current President of the European Union, is reported to be less than thrilled over the new plan.  He sees it as a plot by his rival Barroso to undermine his authority as the de facto head of state of the Union. However, observers in Brussels think that van Rompuy might be prepared to change his mind if he himself would be chosen as the first royal or imperial head of the new Commonwealth of Europe.
