The US global warming establishment, which includes most mainstream media, is scared to death as senator James Inhofe takes charge of the important chairmanship of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee:
This is how Democratic activists like to think of Inhofe: as a doddering caricature of conservative values who, given a platform such as the chairmanship of the Environment and Public Works Committee, will regularly supply punch lines to the opposition. They see him as an untethered radical off in a world apart even from his conservative colleagues; a Don Quixote with Jesus as Sancho Panza, on a quest to rein in overzealous lefties. Their hope is to use him as a foil. Their worry is that his maneuvering could cause a lot more damage when he is wielding a gavel than when riding a horse.
Climate change is certain to be a major issue for Congress in the next couple of years. Tom Steyer, the billionaire Democratic environmentalist, topped the list of campaign donors in the past election cycle; there’s still the Keystone XL pipeline to figure out; and a number of new rules from the Environmental Protection Agency are set to take effect this year. On all this, Inhofe aims to take center stage.
“Expect huge and enormous fireworks in the committee,” said Sen. Barbara Boxer (Calif.), the senior Democrat on the committee. “[Inhofe’s] going to go after everything, and I’m going to stop him dead on the floor of the Senate. . . . The biggest denier of all is the chairman of the environment committee — that’s a cruel joke.”
However, for all those who do not wish to be part of the leftist greenie global warming mafia, there is reason to celebrate:
"It's not happening," Inhofe said during the AP interview. Climate changes detected in recent years are part of a natural cycle that takes between 25 and 35 years to complete, he said.
"We've gone through this since 1895 five times," Inhofe said. "There's not warming going on. We're now in the 15th year of cooling."
He said regulations imposed by the Environmental Protection Agency will kill the economy and jobs. He has urged the agency to abandon stricter rules on refinery air pollution and to reject their own scientists' recommendation to tighten a standard for the main ingredient in smog.
As the likely chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, Inhofe will lead an effort to boost oversight of the EPA and try to thwart its agenda.

PS
It goes without saying that a less educated politican can be as good a politician as an educated one. However, in our globalized age it certainly helps to have language and educational skills.

Vladimir Putin named most corrupt Person of the Year
Another well deserved award for Vladimir Putin:
Vladimir Putin has been named the 2014 Person of the Year by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), an award given annually to the person who does the most to enable and promote organized criminal activity.
Putin was recognized for his work in turning Russia into a major money-laundering center; for enabling organized crime in Crimea and in the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine; for his unblemished record of failing to prosecute criminal activity; and for advancing a government policy of working with and using crime groups as a component of state policy.

Sir David Frederick Attenbourough GWA
Sir David Frederick Attenborough OM CH CVO CBE FRS FZS FSA speaks for "all human beings":
The naturalist said that it was "silly" to play down the issue of climate change in an interview with Sky News.
The 88-year-old said: Wherever you look there are huge risks. The awful thing is that the people in authority and power deny that when the evidence is overwhelming.
"They deny it because it's easier to deny it.
"It's a very major, serious problem facing humanity but at the same time it would be silly to minimise the size of the problem.
"Never in the history of humanity in the last 10 million years have all human beings got together to face one danger that threatens us.
"It's a big ask but the penalty of not taking notice is huge."
One essential letter combination is missing from Sir David´s already impressive list - GWA (for global warming alarmist).

The EU´s foreign policy chief ready for appeasement with Russia
The EU´s foreign policy chief, Italian Federica Mogherini, appears to be ready for appeasement with regard to Putin´s Russia. Hopefully Mrs Merkel will stop her!
BRUSSELS - Federica Mogherini, the EU’s foreign policy chief, has said the bloc should launch a new “debate” with Russia aimed at ending the “confrontation” over Ukraine.
She told Italy’s La Repubblica daily on Saturday (27 December): “The current situation is very difficult for Russia. It would be in its interest to contribute to ending the conflict. At the same time, we all know that Russia plays an important role not only in Ukraine, but also in Syria, Iran, the Middle East, Libya”.
“We have to open a direct debate with Moscow on our mutual relations and the role that Russia can play in other crises”.
She noted that Ukraine and the US also want a way out.

Vladimir Putin´s press conference on December 18, the birthday of Joseph Stalin
Putin:
"What [The West] is trying to do is chain the bear, take out his claws...what we're trying to do is maintain our sovereignty and independence."
Vladimir Putin has today, on the birthday of Joseph Stalin, held a televised press conference.
The leader of the world´s foremost thugocracy carefully followed the advice of another Russian leader, Vladimir Lenin, when answering questions: "A lie told often enough becomes the truth".

The UN mega climate jamboree in Lima ends (fortunately) without reaching any kind of real agreement
The UN mega climate jamboree in Lima is about to close (fortunately) without any kind of real agreement. One can only wonder how long this madness is allowed to continue? Some sane people (e.g. in the new U.S. Congress) should put an end to this enormous waste of taxpayers´ money:
World leaders and delegates converged on Lima, Peru two weeks ago and the world watched, once again, as the spectacle of the United Nation’s climate change talks devolved into grandstanding and protests with little substance being the norm. The goal of this COP20 meeting was to create a framework for world nations to build a deal that would replace the accords met in 1997, commonly called the Kyoto Protocols. It appears that the effort has failed, as is the norm at most U.N. climate talks.
Somehow, 10,000 or so delegates from 190 different countries, plus celebrity speech givers such as John Kerry, U.S. Secretary of State, couldn’t come to an agreement on climate change mitigation. Talks went into overtime Friday night, as reported by the Inquisitr, after the expected announcement of a deal Friday afternoon was not forthcoming. The climate change talks extended into today, but it doesn’t appear anything will come of it.
The sheer number of people involved in COP20 this year was staggering. About ten thousand delegates and hangers-on arrived in Lima by jet, airplane, and bus. More people arrived via boat, train, and plane to surround the talks with protests and activism. Others arrived to protest the protesters and still more were there to call into question the whole point of climate change and the science behind it. The amount of carbon expelled just to rant about climate change itself was likely in the tens of thousands of tons.
